Some of us were chatting over a cup of scald earlier in work and not one person was in a pub last nite.Everyone that went out were either at a house party or stayed in and had a few cans or a bottle of wine..
Most said that they would save on average 50 euro on a saturday nite by doing this so are the pubs going to gradually fade away???

Have to admit rarely going to the pub for the past 12-13 years, more to do with getting married though.

The throbbing sensation in my head and the queasy feeling in my stomach indicates that yes... I was indeed in a pub last night.

everything is relative , a pub in Germany is considered full when you cant get a seat , might be nice not to be treated like a battery hen, either that or I'm getting old:pac:

Depends on what stage your at in life.

5 years ago, I was in da pub at least 3 nights a week.
Nowadays, I'm 40, married, mortgaged, kids, etc.

Most of my old crew in the same boat now, so no real point in going.

Younger people might have a different take on things though..

I still go to the pub a couple of times a month. My habits have changed a little though. It used be once a week on a Saturday night usually I'd hit it hard on the session. Nowadays I just hit the pub for a few pints with friends if there's a match on or maybe head to the local for a few quiet ones on a Sunday afternoon.

I dont go to the pub because :

    Im fairly poor
    I have to smoke outdoors
I have to buy each drink individually meaning I must queue. At home I can open the fridge and not pay somebody each and every time.
If I fall asleep on the chair at home I wont get thrown out in the rain(mostly)

I rarely attend the pub unless it is a special occasion

Yeh, same as Kold, 10 would be the earliest I would get to the pub. I have a few at home before I go out nowadays, and I always go somewhere on the dart line cos I live half a minute walk from the dart so that saves me money too!

I know it's really bold but if I have to go to the pub - birthdays etc - when I'm totally smashed, I'll bring my lickle bottles of vodka and buy diet 7up :o

I don't like paying extortionate prices for whiskey/beer and yelling at my friends, so, no, I don't go to the pub.

Supposed to go to the pub last night so we met up in a house to drink beforehand but ended up getting pissed and jumping around sitting room and running to the pub just before it closed to get more ciggerettes...good times, twenty euro for the night well spent!

I go to pubs but i'ld rather have a few mates over at home than head to a pub....

A can of bulmers light is €2.35 from Tesco which is nearly two bottles which in a pub will cost you at €5.00....

Am such a scabby bitch! Ah i am broke so thats my excuse :)

I would go to the pub to watch a big rugby or football match, just for the atmosphere. One or two pints would last me for the full match as I'm a cheap bastard :P

Typical night out wouldn't involve the pub. Instead cans in a mate's gaff before hitting the club or houseparty.

a couple of trips up north a year (depending where you are in the country) is worth the journey. I stock up and then if I'm invited somewhere and have no money, I can grab a few cans or a bottle of wine from the stash and have a great night!
I know it's not good for our economy but the whoopsadaisydoodles economy has not been doing so well lately - first paycheck in 8 months next Friday - wooooohooooooooo.

Yes of course people still go to the pub. I for one spent from 3pm until 2am yesterday in pubs and im going again soon for the cure. I actually dislike drinking in houses I find it boring, lacks atmosphere and is the same place you spend every other night if the week. Also if you drink a real drink like Guinness draught in the pub is the only way to have it.

I got sick of cueing for 20 minutes for a drink all the while being violently pushed by fat girls trying to skip the cue while they attempt to blank the fact that you know what they have just done . Then spending all night standing and screaming into someones face. Im much more a fan of a quiet one.

Rarely these days. In fact, I'm barely drinking at all anymore. Funny how things change.

ah blue puke, a sure sign that you had too much to drink so decided to have more in the way of kiddy juice!!!

Very little work means that I can't afford to go to the pub much these days.
I went on Thursday night, but that was a one off and it'll be a while before I go to a pub again.

Nah they won't fade away at all...

However, I very rarely go to my pub, if I do go out I tend to go to my local, which is where my parents live :P

I dont go to the pub as much as I use to and find I dont miss it like I thought I would . I tend to make up for it at family gatherings and other functions throughout the year .

usually go to the pub mid week to catch up with one of my mates over a quiet pint - been doing that since I was about 22(5/6 yrs ago!)
going to night with one of the house mates for a pint in the local - hate going to the pub after 9:30 but guess it's because I usually only go to chat with mates.

I love the pub & hate drinking at home.

    Just thought I'd say.

Not really where I am now (Sligo). In Dublin I would for a good night (usually if there is a band on). Seems to be getting like Canada and the US with everybody having house parties/drop-ins at home. More fun I think as it's far better than the drinking culture in the pubs. Just my opinion.
