Pinnacle have stopped making these so it wont be possible to buy these new anywhere plus they use that small pci express slot that nobody seems to have any use for. Will be perfect for anyone looking to have all the fta channels in the future through satellite and terrestrial.

Good find Kaiser, they also have the 3010 dual DVB-T only card for £13. I just ordered 2 of them.

Paid around that much at christmas for it from big pockets. Exchange rate was better at the time though and they had it in stock at the time. So this seems like a good price

For anyone else who is wondering what the internal connections on the side of the card are see ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/Manual/MediaCenter%20-%20TVCenter%20V.4/PCTV7010iX_EN.pdf

if i have the connections fitting ok in the pci-e slot, i cant fit the silver part that you screw in properly.

I had the same problem, but had to send them back this morning, as they were damaged in the post.

thought i mightnt have had my motherboard aligned properly but maybe its the card itself then. Fitted it in but the part with the tv connections is slanted inwards. Also noticed there very power hungry. I've built a home server to store all my media and measure the wattage with a kill a watt, the wattage has gone up 10 to 15 watts since i installed the card and its not even being used atm. Maybe thats normal! have become obsessed with watts since i built the server!

10-15 watts sounds like an awful lot. The thing must be cooking too.

I was going for a gfx card with a single slot heatsink. The 2 pci slots are beside eash other on my motherboard. And if this card is near melting, would it be worth getting something with a fan rather than a heatsink?

10 to 15 watts probably isnt much considering it has 4 tuners, and its probably the reason its pci-express and not pci.

graphics cards use a lot of watts so doubt it this will cause any problems and i'm sure you would hear bad things about it if u searched google if there were any such problems. I just want to keep my server under 100 watts and this just brought me close to the edge!

I have a couple of questions as I have near all the components to do my "upgrade". So before I start laying cables and all the nightmare that goes with that..., I need to clarify some things.

I understand that this card can take 2 dvb-s inputs so I can get FreeSat.

It also has 2 dvb-t inputs. Can these be used for Irish Freeview if available? If so, what do I need? A Wideband TV Aerial? Will Vista work with dvb-t mp4 or do I need that h.264 DLL hack from tgb? Or do I just need Windows 7? Anyone shed some light? Thanks

The DVB-T inputs will work with Irish digital terrestrial. I'm still not sure on what kind of aerials are needed though, apparently the "normal" outdoor ones will do, but people who know more might post more definate answers! Vista needs the TV pack installed in order to watch digital terrestrial TV via media centre, and you don't need the dll hack for SD TV, which is what RTE will be for another while. If you haven't bought Vista yet, hold out for Windows 7, as that has the TV pack and the dll file for BBC-HD etc.

Is there an equivalent USB version of this so I can stick it on a Dell Zino HD?

(Also can you recommend a freeview box, that's fairly future proof - esp for RTE MPEG4)

This thread is about a year old. Best open a new one for yourself, you'll get better responses.
