Hi just got a 98d car a few days back after my old one was totalled:mad:,its lovely and running great, however there was one of these "air freshener thingys which was in front of the airvent so when the air blows thru it there is a perfumed smell, thing is I have noticed it irritates my throat badly and so decided to put it in the glove box.....only to find that its leaked out now and the pong from the car in now overpowering me worse than ever.In general my throat dosent seem to cope too well with any kind of liquid fragrance for instance I cant wear aftershave and these magic trees are bad for me too,

Question. Does anyone know a natural way to get rid of this perfume smell without futher irritating my poor throat?(maybe a candle would work but not sure)

Cut an onion in 2 and place it on the floor in the passenger footwell, have it on a newspaper so the onion doesn't get into the carpet and create another problem.

an onion would work best for your car, I know my mum uses bicarbonate of soda to get dog odours from carpets

have a sh!te in the glovebox.

A cut lemon does the same trick as the onion, but it might be a little bit nicer residual smell.

    Replacement glovebox from scrapyard, simple.

Throw out the freshener and leave all the windows open. It'll minimise the smell in a few hours and after a couple of days it will be gone. As for the glove box, clean it out with a damp cloth.

I know what you mean about the throat irritation. Those Magic Trees are the worst offenders - 10 mins in a car with one of those and a few hours later my throat will be on fire.

Your best bet is to valet.
Rent a carpet shampooer over the weekend and give it a lash.

Either that or drive topless everywhere and dont shower to man it up a little. That may present other problems though.
