Ok, so Gibson have just re-released the Grabber bass (now called the Grabber II). It looks pretty nice, except for the chrome pickup.... would be better black like the originals.

But... and its a big one... they need to cop the f**k on. The price is over $3000. You can buy 3 or more original Grabbers for that!
    Stupid stupid gibson...

They should reduce the price to around the $1K mark and re-release the G-3 (3 pickup version of this) and the RD bass. That would be awesome.

Pretty stupid that, like some marshall reissue heads can be 1800 and then you find the original amp from the 80's going for 5 or 600:eek:

That chrome pickup doesnt look well at all

Yeah, the originals also had maple fretboards. Looks much nicer on them I think.

I gotta admit, I really like that. Tune it down, throw on some distortion and play some stoner rock :D

I've never played a Gibson I really, really liked, especially their basses. For three grand, **** original rippers, that's three Bacchus :p

Meh to them all, says I. Anyone who drops three grand on a passive single pickup vol-tone bass deserves everything they get, tbh. Is the pickup mounted on a scratchplate on the scratchplate?

The pickup is moveable. You can move it along towards the neck or bridge for different tones.

There's a reason that idea never took off :pac:

sorry but that's ugly as far as a bass goes.

Knock 2200/2400 bucks off that price, maybe I'm interested.

Though, first order of buisness, Hipshot Supertone bridge.....

I agree. Those hipshot bridges are pretty cool.

Here's an ad for an original one. They first came out in the 70's during the Gibson Norlin era... hence all the maple.

Any sign of a Ripper reissue? One can hope...

Well, considering they did this it's possible. It would be great if they brought that trio out again, the Ripper, Grabber and G-3.
