well since you live in the dublin city(more or less) you could try wireless BB like clear wire , but i have to stress that they can be really expensive 40+euro a month and the speeds can be amazingly slow

Clearwire are useless and have small limits.

    Try Smart

Smart or Magnet would be good options

Clearwire will make you cry as will almost any totally wireless solution if you want actual broadband speeds.

You'd be better with fixed wireless or cable.

Very true........look long and hard at wireless providers and what they can or cant deliver.

Remember.......CHEAP normally means you are going to be shouting at your laptop (and some clueless sod in some god forsaken call centre) for quite some time.

You can't get UPC, and you've ruled out DSL. That eliminates about 90% of your options. You're left with Breeze and Metro for proper broadband. Everything else is pretty much crap. Both of these require an external antenna to be placed on the house, and require line of sight to their mast.

Ruling out DSL simply because you don't want a phone is a mistake, it may be your only option, and there have been plenty of suggestions above.

ok, one more question in order to get eircom do i need phone line ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 255 ✭✭paddyb125

Yeah you'll need a phone line, infact line rental with eircom is quite expensive:(

Well you have UPC (good) and other god awful others, broadband without line rental is (except for UPC) terrible in almost all cases (some fixed wireless systems can be good but the money you'll spend on the recievers/install can wipe out the line rental savings).

Write what down? Do you want to know the names of the wireless providers?
