I'm going Snowboarding in Mayrhofen tomorrow for a week. 4th time snowboarding but never been to Austria.

Anyone any tips for the area?

If you are going to be heading up the Penken side then get there very early - either that or after 10.30. This is peak week for european schools and its Fasching when you are there so will be very very busy.

There is a boarder area towards the back with a restaurant - cant remember the exact name of it but you will find it - its crawling with boarders.

Good places are the Ice bar at the bottom of the Penken - although this will probaly be packed with cloggies as normal! Scotland yard is good and the Schussel alm is a laugh if you are still standing after midnight!

I lived in Mayrhofen for 6 months and it is a great little town. The pizzas in Mannis were lovely and the wraps from Mo`s were also good. For trad Austrian food the Edelweiss restaurant was good. Also heading out of the village there was a great little place tucked away but I cant remember the name of it. It was run by the daughter of the people who owned the Elizabeth hotel (very nice hotel) - pizzas there also good!
