Most sewing shops sell them what part of the country are you in. Lena's wool shop in Limerick are good to deal with.

They are not cheap, about €300 as far as I know. but I'd suspect you could pick up one in the sewing or business equipment sections of the buy and sell.

What is it for whould you get away with a normal sewing machine with a free arm and satin stich.

    Guys
I'm pulling my hair out at this stage. Child has a junior cert project due, embroidery, nearly done but the shop no longer stocks the thread, seeking a supplier anywhere in the west at this stage, mayo, roscommon r galway.

    Thanks

Try www.craftersbasket.com ( based in sligo) or www.fabricsdirect.ie (based in Tullamore) They may stock this hand embroidery thread and may be able to post the embroidery thread to you. I think Heart educational (not sure of their website bu try googling it) based in Galway (school suppliers) also stock embroidery thread.
Check the paper casings on the original thread to get the code for the colour as there are many different shades and it would be a pity not to get the right one.
Good luck to your daughter with her craft project!

Thanks so much. Really appreciate the advice. Will check them all out. Heading to Tuam 2moro so will seek out Heart Educational. Got all the codes off by heart at this stage, can't believe it's been so difficult to get thread. Poor child arrived arriveds back to school and was given 6 weeks to complete project, that includes choosing design, graphing it, doing it and also doing the research on the chosen craft.

Anyone who has done crossstitch knows to do an A4 design takes 10's of hours.

Sorry, know this is off topic, but the pressure that these kids have already been placed under is ridiculous, and this is just for Junior Cert, got another doing Leaving Cert also, so to say the house is stressed is putting it mildly, and this is still October.
