Hey folks, i just have a quick question on an annoying problem i have in my car (2005 Passat 2.0 TDI new model). It started happening a few weeks ago where something has seemed to have dislodged behind the central vents in the dash (not behind the radio because i checked there already and it all seems to be ok), evertime i turn even a mildly gentle turn it is rolling around behind the dash.

My query is would it be hard to remove the dash to locate and remove and secure this thing and would removing the dash 'unsettle' all the interior plastics? i would be intending on getting my mechanic to do this who is an ex VW mechanic. If anyone has come accross this any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes its a nasty job to remove it. It might also "unsettle" the dash in future.

Follow the attached link.I had the same problem. It's when a coin falls from the coin tray. It's simple enough but a bitch to get the spring back in!

Those instructions are very good with pictures and I assure you it will cure it but getting the spring back is very hard
Let me know how you get on......

It's tricky enough, I had one out a few weeks ago to install Cruise Control in a 01 Passat

TIP If you go to do it, but decent tools that are magnetized!!!
