Improve UPC digital reception

    Hi,

We have recently upgraded to the UPC Digital TV and have noticed that the signal is poor and so we keep getting a no signal error every so ofter which makes watching tv quite annoying to say the least

The basic UPC reception when not using the digital box is fine and no problem

UPC say its because the cables running through the apartment complex are old and need to be updated so hence we are getting a broken signal for the Digital - They claim to be working on this :)

I was wondering if there is anything we can do to boost the strength of the digital signal - Are there any boosters etc you can pick up ? - or is it a matter of waiting for UPC to update the cables

    any advice appreciated

I would think it is a matter of waiting. If you get a booster you'd only be boosting a bad signal. It could be your apartment or it could be the area. Refuse to pay NTL until it is fixed. Why should you pay the same as me when I get good service and you don't? :)

There are a few NTL techs here who could probably give you a bit more information.

They really shouldn't have sold you the product if the cables need to be replaced and they are "working on this".

It's a bit rich! Tell them you want to cancel on the basis of being sold a product that's not fit for purpose.

I'm having the same problems with this lot, I'm missing 1 frequency out of the 13, having rang them they've told me there currently upgrading my area for better Digital & new broadband services....

Ok - Fair enough I suppose. That was 4 months ago though:rolleyes:

I'm having signal strength issues too. The only problem is that they've only started since the UPC tech replaced the old line (with which I had 100% strength) for a new line (which only gets c.50% signal strength).

Could this be due to a loose connection?

Just to point out, strength isn't important. The "quality" is what really counts. On my HD box most are 50-60% strength, but have no issues because they're all reported as 100% quality

Have 100% quality but since the new wiring has been installed I'm missing quite a few channels.
