I am about to book a trip to helsinki to see the Chicago Blackhawks v Florida Panthers open up the NHL season in October (2nd and 3rd). They'll be playing two games while they are in Finland, so it looks like I will be looking for things to do while I am there. Also Aer Lingus only flies to Helsinki on Tuesday and Saturdays, so I will be there for a full week.

What can you tell me about Finland ? So far the only thing that has come out of everyone's mouth was how expensive the price of drink is in Finland. lol

im also trying to plan a trip to helsinki in october.

i dont know if you've noticed yet but aer lingus has changed their flights to finland. they now only fly March - September. The handiest way to get there now is to fly to heathrow and then use BA to fly to Helsinki. im really annoyed by that because the aer lingus direct flights were good value, now its doubling my air fares.

If you are in Helsinki for a full week then I'd hop on a ferry and go over to Tallinn in Estonia for 2/3 days. Helsinki is an okay city but you'll get tired of it after a few days.
Tallinn is really nice, has a beautiful old town and is a good bit cheaper than Finland. Its also only 3 hours away on the ferry so its really not hard to get there.
