What car(s) do you have in your head that you really, really want and will have a chance of owning in the near future. Me being the car obsessed, time on my hands student that i am, i have a lot of time to ponder this. You can just say one car down the line or you can have a couple in mind. Bear in mind its just a bit of fun. I'll start.

Alfa GTV Cup/156 GTA: It'll be one or the other obviously, not both.

    Peugeot 607

but i don't really like modern cars that are filled with electronic shyte (half probably won't work when i get around to buying one). power steering bluetooth climate control is just a waste i think and doesn`t make the car any nicer to drive. so might have to go for something a bit more oldskool. i particularly don't like the clutch in the new peugeots. feels like some sort of drive by wire thing not nice at all.

the silvery alfa isn't half bad looking. how many seats in it? a 2 seater would be nice.

Very nice DanGer. I'd personally love an S8 but thats just because no one else i know would have one...ever.

Towel, the GTV is a 4 seater and apparantly there is a nice bit of room in the back(rather you than me in there) but they have the look of a 2 seater and the cup version is supposed to be a phenomenal car to drive. Beautiful 3.0litre v6 singing in it as well. I'd be a very happy man.

Got a daily 523, it's grand but it doesn't excite me so mutch. Might go for a 728 in the near future. Would really like an S8 for the daily, but weekend car,I gotta go for something like this:

    +1 on that.

Currently own a 01 BMW 530d. Living in Galway and to be honest although it is a great car I am wondering how useful rear wheel drive is in Ireland.

Along with the above posters I think I'll go down the S6/S8 quattro route next due to crappy wet roads with feck all grip.

Great car, have an E39 523 myself altho it's petrol. What's wrong with rear wheel drive?!?

Yea i was after a Mk1 but was put off a bit by the talk of heavy steering and spongy brakes, this could be a nice little solution

Subaru Liberty GT tuned by STI 3.gif I currently have a 2001 Subaru Liberty and I love. SO the next one will be an upgrade to a 2005-2006 Liberty GT. Lovely to drive.

Alternatively I might look into an Audi A4, very nice cars.

Hmm, in about a years time I hope to be looking at any of the following, can't decide which though:

    E65 7 Series:

Great when roads are dry but anytime its wet the DSC has to kick in. And considering the roads are wet here the majority of the time I would prefer if the power was being translated to acceleration rather than struggling for grip on bumpy roads. I can't imagine how an M5 would put down all that power.

Have to say its only a minor gripe for a car I'm extremely happy with but I definately want to test drive 4 wheel drive before next purchase (2 years or so down the line).

I'm looking to pick up a Mk5 GTi DSG fairly soon. I was very tempted by an E46 M3 for a while but pragmatism won in the end.

Go for the quattroporte! Absolutely beautiful car.

I'm getting a like for a big lazy diesel. Maybe a 530d auto or A6 3.0tdi quattro...thinking its a bit much though if i'm 26...so a 33d could be on the cards instead

You do realise it will cost you extra BIK (higher emissions)? Although with your mileage it probably doesn't make much difference.

For me it would have to be
    no-image-large.gif

Needs to be diesel due to my commute and the fact I pay for my own fupping fuel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,154 ✭✭✭✭Berty

Thats my car wishlist for my next company car but the way things are going I might end up with a Mondeo. I do not pay BIK due to a way of working my mileage reporting. It means if my payment is €120 a month then the company will put €120 into my account out of their own purse so I pay zilch.

They may just end up giving me a S- Line 2010 Audi A4 instead but I want the IS

Yes but you nearly have to buy the Ghia model or above to have an anyway decent car.

I'll be looking at an M3 in the next 12 months or so, however I'm not 100% sure if I'll be going for the new model yet... (but that coupe is so nice!)

    I'm such a fool for a BMW :(

Edit: Needed to add, not buying the M new, such a waste of money with the value that can be had on the 2nd hand market.

Still a few years away, but next car will hopefully be an e46 M3 or e39 M5. Even though I'm getting ideas, I'm still really enjoying my current car which I've had for a year now, so happy to wait a while.

You really should aim for a V8. The straight 6 is a mighty fine engine, but not torquey enough for a 7-series.

@hammertime - never a better time to buy a Cayenne turbo, especially if you can fill it up for free :D;)

    Me, I'm thinking about a W126 500SE(L)

The wife's S-max is only a year old, so it's my banger that'll go next. I'll have something less than 10K to blow. I'd like something discreet with a biggish motor, like an Outback or this Toledo.

Will be a few years, but a current model efficient dynamics BMW coupe is what I currently want to be my next car (second hand obviously so hoping they suffer some horrible depreciation over the next two years or so!!)

Preference (including price) with be a 320D M Sport coupe.

    I would like either:

A Q7 - 3.0TDI although I would go for the 4.2TDI if I were not too boring and afraid of ever selling it. Would not use it as a taxi though!:)

A newish twin turbo x5 3.0 diesel with 270 odd bhp.

Both nice cars but would prefer to see them drop a bit more in price first.

In the Audi it would be silver/grey or black with privacy glass all round, 20in, full comms pack and all the extras plus a movable boot liner for easy loading/unloading.

    Something like this:

I'd love an Audi A3 but unless i get a 200% raise in work that's not happening any time soon. A newish (2007+) Yaris or Corsa would do me grand though. Something about the shape of both of them really gets me.
