Can some of you guys have a look at the link below, I'm on the lookout for a new bike and the Pinarello Paris on this page: http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/shbikes.asp caught my eye..... Ive been cycling for about 18 months using a flat-bar road bike (like the current giant fcr range) anyway I think ive proved to myself at this stage that im interested enough to consider upgrading. Just wondering if im making too big a jump from flat-bar racer to the pinarello paris??? If i thought i was getting a good deal i could raise the cash as I would like to buy something that will not need changing again in 2 years time. However,It dont want to find the bike is too advanced for me and only suitable to Lance Armstrong types!!

    Any help/advice would be appreciated.........

    Thanks

Is 55cm the right size for you?

If not, it'll be an expensive ornament.

Sorry, should have mentioned that my current bike is 55cm and any others ive taken for a "test drive" have been 55/56, they all feel right for me....

Might want to PM barney150 to get some more detail about alleged issues with Pinarellos.

I'm in the market for a frame around this price, currently thinking of an Cervelo RS.

Seems like a top end carbon frame and groupset is about €4k.

Thats a lot of bike. ou could get something round 2.5k thats pretty top class. Also if your spending this money be sure t look around online as your bound to get a good bargain..

As for 2 years... no one needs to upgrade their bike for the bikes sake .. if your desires that drive that one.

Indeed. Wheelworx are giving away Cervelos right now.

The Paris was Pinarello's top carbon frame until the Prince came along.

A good frame is a good frame and a beginner will appreciate it as much as a pro.

    But...

I'm assuming you are using this for leisure riding and sportif's etc. Those carbon wheels are generally only used for racing and you'd be better off with some alloy clincher wheels for everyday use.

If you have the money and really want a nice Pinarello, consider the FP3 or FP5 they have.

I would agree that unless you are planning on doing some racing then a 4k bike might be a big step up.

If you just want a nicer bike for some spins, charity cycles and sportifs, 2k will get you a very nice bike that will probably be more than you need.

Having said that, it is a very nice bike.

Damn the recession - BUY THE BIKE.
Whats 4k for a bike that you will get years of enjoment from.

I love to see the type of confidence that you display.
    Buy the bike.

    heya,

like myself i started biking again about 18 months ago, started on a corsa optima which i bought for 250 euro, sold it over xmas and went up north when the exchange was pretty much 1 for 1. Got a specialized tarmac comp for 1200 sterling 1250euro when credit card bill came in. The bike was brand new and I love it.

Might be an idea to go north as I see cyclesuperstore are selling a 2nd hand specialized tarmac for 1400 euro. Google Mcconveys, thats where I got mine and the lads were really helpfull.

Photo of my bike here.........can u tell I like it :D

I am also thinking of an upgrade. I would be slow to buy a second hand bike, it is hard to beat that new feeling. I was thinking about a Cervelo S2 frame and build. This is an expensive option and there are issues about comfort on Irish roads(will be used on Kerry roads occasionaly). I am considering this: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/EN-GB/bikes/road/2421/32347/ I think the balance of cost and equipment is good. €2,750 from local bike store. Hope this helps.

Yeah that tarmac is a lovely bike. I would choose it over the pinarello because a) im not that good and b) i dont race so I would feel a bit silly having a 4 grand bike.

But its your money and if you really do like the pinarello then take it for a test spin.

But I do love those spesh frames.

Also, if you do wanna spend €4K, there are a lot of other options out there, even new ones.

    Here is just one :
