Boss BF-2 Flanger noise issue

I recently bought a second hand Boss BF-2 Flanger and have it after my GT6. I also have a DD-3 on the same PSA-240 supply but that is on an effects loop on the amp. My problem is this. Even when the Flanger is switched off there is a noticeable white noise which is very pronounced when using the amp overdrive, less so with the GT6 overdrive/distortion, but nevertheless annoying.

Is this white noise normal? Or is the pedal dodgy? Or just in the wrong place in the chain? I am gonna go up and stick in front of the delay on the effects loop and see if it still hisses...........

Normal practice is to put a flanger/phaser/chorus in the effects loop. Hopefully that will solve your problem.

Plug it in by itself. Do you get the noise then?

I have one and I can't say I've noticed it being noisy.

Are you running the Flanger, Delay and GT6 off the one PSA-240 power supply ?
As someone said, try running them seperate and see where the noise comes in.

well illiminate the issues by trying different things, cables, power supplies, in the fx loop in the chain, make sure theres no power cables being mixed with the instrument cables

try different things to see if its noisy

Sorry for the lateness in reply. Haven't been online in ages. Decided to spend my time learning stuff. Worked quite well :D

    As for the noise issue:

Placed it in the amp's effects loop and it has killed all the noise, apart from when using the amp overdrive with a healthy dose of onboard reverb. Not exactly the quitest anyway when using lots of reverb + overdrive. Perhaps the 10 year old pre-amp valve is starting to give out?! I know 10 years is a lot, but I don't gig and the amp is never much above 2. I use modelled distrotion/overdive.

As for the power supply. The PSA-240 is powering the DD-3 and BF-2 only. Will try it on its own just to see later.

You could try using a Noise Suppressor if you're desperate.

This is probably a crap idea :)

Hehe. I use the noise gate in the GT-6 to cut down on noise in the ultra-distortion end of things. I will be getting a noise supressor eventually for the rest of my effects when I get them! As for now though I can't justify it.
