    Hi,

I am going to get myself a Spifire in the UK. The car has MOT and is taxed. I want to drive it over, so I need insurance. Can I insure the car in Ireland or do I have to find an UK insurance? Which might be tricky without an address over there.

    Any help appreciated,
    Lasse

I drove down a car from North on Monday, on UK plates. Called axa from the dealers yard, after I'd bought it, and temp transferred by insurance onto it. Just gave model, reg and value of car, and it was insured for a week without any questiosn. I wasnt even asked where the car was.

    Thanks. That helps.
Problem seems now, that hardly any insurer wants to touch a 1979 reg car. FBD (current insurance) told me that car is not in their list, so they can't/won't insure it.

get classic insurance, and transfer it over when you purchase the car.
or get agreement from a company that they'll issue cover to you, over the fone on the day, using credit card to purchase it.
