Everyone knows the Dublin ones are much, much better :D;)

It's essentially the same car as the Meriva that I (try) to drive. Bit like a bus, the 1.4 is underpowered. Get a diesel one if you can.

They are one of the better 7 seaters if you need that sort of thing, although the Citroen C4 Picasso is the best IMO. What kind of budget do you have?

Zafira is much bigger than Meriva and doesn't come in 1.4. Zafira is a 7-seater based on Astra platform, Meriva is a 5-seater based on Corsa platform.

Zafira is best value of the 7-seaters - reasonable size rear seats that fold into the floor. Can give niggly problems but overall okay. Cheaper than the competition. Galaxy etc are bigger but don't have the fold down rear seats (unless you give 10k more than Zafira for the new shape galaxy). Corolla Verso more reliable but rear seats are smaller.

Well shut mah mouth... that's what I get for believing idle pub chatter :D

(Actually, the Meriva does look like somebody plugged a footpump into a Corsa and jumped on it).

I've had Zafiras twice as hire cars. As a result we didnt even bother looking at Zafiras when it came time to change the missus Scenic. Ended up getting a newer Grand Scenic. Didnt like anything about the Zafira tbh.

Just like the the back of an AA truck is a nicer place to be:D (before I'm slated I'm kidding...ish)

I drove a 1.6 07 for a week or so and its not a bad car at all. Bit gutless but thats because its a 1.6 in a car that bit. Was smooth and quiet but a little on this thirsty side. Maybe try and find a diesel one, the 120 brake should be plenty and dont go below Club spec

I'd a Zafira for 18 months. Very versatile from a load/seat configuration point of view but incredibly uninspiring as a car. Then I had a Citroën C4 Picasso 5 seat which was a much better car. Plenty more gadgets as standard (if that's your thing). The seat/loading arrangement was better in some ways - each seat folded independently but did not fold flat like the Zafira which had a nuisance factor for me. Ultimately the C4 was better for the load I occasionaly carried as it meant I didn't have to remove the 2 child seats each time which is something I had to do in the Zafira. Of the two I'd go for the C4 Picasso but the C4 was launched in 2007 unlike the Zafira which has been around for a long time.

For the record, I had a 1.6 petrol Zafira and a 1.8 petrol C4 Picasso.

@confab - the Meriva is smaller than the Zafira in the same way a Focus is smaller than a Mondeo......

Thanks for all responses. Garage is offering the 06 for 12,300 + my 02 Almera. Any opinions on whether that's a good deal? Can't go much higher than that budge.

    Shop around.

Go to one or two other garages who have a similar Zafira and see what cost to change price they quote you. It is impossible to know if you are getting a good deal when you haven't shopped around to be honest.
