My car (Volkswagen Golf 02) wouldn't start this morning. The battery was down. I had been away for a few days, so it hadn't been started in this time. It has happened to me before also (maybe 3 months ago) while I was away for a couple of days. I am going to get the battery checked today, but I don't think it it down. It only happens when the car hasn't been used in a few days. Anybody have any ideas what could be the problem? Cheers.

ps. Could it have anything to do with the stereo?

    Possibilities:-

    1/. Knackered battery.
2/. A drain on the battery.
    3/. Charging problem.

Unless you dont turn off the stereo??
In my own car( Golf also mk4) the radio doesn't turn off until you pull out the key, so I presume you do this?

It may be a weak battery, so it prob needs to be replaced/recharged.
you'll know anyway from getting it checked.

It sounds like there's a constant drain of some sort on the battery, and when the car isn't used for a few days, it's draining the battery to the point that it can't start the engine.

Poorly installed bluetooth kits are a big favourite for doing this.
