    Hi,

Ive a media player and i got it for another reason but ended up using it to watch avi videos on. The problem is you can only connect it via USB to the PC so i have to bring it downstairs plug the power in, download the avi, disconnect and unplug and then bring it back upstairs to watch the movie.

What id like to do is to have the PC connected to the media player via a network cable and then i could run the network cable upstairs to the media player and then a scart/hdmi to the TV from the media player, then i can upload new avi's directly from my PC downstairs.

Ive tried googling media players but its picking up so much media player softwares that its hard to find anything so is there something like this available?

There are loads of media players that are network capable.
Examples are popcornhour and WD HD TV.

The WD TV isn't network capable - it only has two USB ports for connecting hard drives or flash USB sticks. The Popcorn Hour is network capable.

Try the Linksys DMA 2100 or the 2200 one has a DVD player but they run via wireless b/g/n that way you don't have to run a Cat5 cable.
