Right, I've done a mix of a tune with my band, that we want to include on an EP which we want to put up on I-tunes, the problem is I cant get it the master up to the levels needed...
I've no mastering gear as such only what is there on Pro tools LE 8, and a free massey master limiter, all involved in the production want to use the mix I've done, but I just cant get it to the levels equal to the rest of the tracks on the Ep which used a SSL Master.. what can I do??
If you want a listen its www.myspace.com/beastmen - track called "porphryin"

Maybe download a Waves demo of the SSL stuff? - something like that? - i'm sure there's probably one of those companies offering a time limited version somewhere :) - find the name of a few and google away! :)

Had a look at these alright, but I would need an I-lok key to use most of the demos available.

still and all ... it could be worthwhile considering the time = money aspect of the thing and arrange for any of the more than capable folks around these parts to do it for you.
I came to the conclusion a while back that it was more cost effective for me to pass that aspect of my music to someone who can professionally deal with a track and in the end save me money because I would not have to buy mastering software and spend ages doing something that was going to wreck my head and still not be good enough. Particularly if it's going to be commercially released.

Get the whole thing mastered by a professional. A fresh set of ears that know exactly what they're doing in terms of making sure it translates well on other playback systems is invaluable.

1 track isn't very expensive. Richard in Wav and Fergal in Suite are both experienced guys with great tools.

What would be the ballpark for such a service?

Whats reasonable to be expected Guys?

    Just wondering.

Go to Kjerhus audio and downlaod some of their trial compressors/master limiters. Their freebie master limiter and compressor are also worth a look, they're part of the 'classic series'.

    Get T-Racks

The demo version has no limitations so you have 10 days to master it!
My knowledge of mastering is poor enough yet I got great results with this.
There are many preset mastering settings you can try and then just tweak them a bit as needed.
    Very easy to use.
