    http://www.2030vision.ie

2030 Vision is the name given to the Strategic Transport Plan being developed by the Dublin Transportation Office for the Greater Dublin Area. It will be at the heart of all transport planning in the region from 2010 until 2030.

Everyone has an important role in helping to design it. We wish to consult you in the development of the new transport strategy.

How long will the consultation take?

The consultation will take about 10 minutes of your time and is in two parts. Part 1 contains a list of potential transport measures to be used in the strategy and asks for your views. Part 2 introduces you to the Strategy Challenge webtool which shows the tough choices to be faced in matching transport measures to strategy objectives. Finally we ask some quick questions about your location, etc. We look forward to receiving your views by Sunday March 22nd, 2009.

How about completeing the T21, or the 2020 vision no?

I blame the Greens (again). In Government, they have just added to the bulloney. At least if they were in opposition, they would be keeping the pressure on. In Govt, well, they have been less helpful that even the PDs ever were. Tandem ride anyone?

You really do dislike the greens:rolleyes:. Dont you think FF have had anything to do with slow development of transport strategies and services?

Oh I do look forward to seeing all the unfinished T21 projects reannounced in a new 2030s vision document....

Oh here we go again, let's have another poxy consultation for the next two years, then put together a press conference for "Transport 21 Part V" and rehash the same old plan, on a yet again delayed timescale. Electrification of the DART lines to Maynooth and Hazelhatch: 2020. Navan phase II: 2018. Luas to Finglas: 2021, Integrated ticketing system: 2018, Metro South: 2032, DOOR: 2035, etc. etc. etc.

And don`t forget the Buzzez....I reckon about 120 EXTRA Buses for Dublin Bus sounds about right......Yes Minister ? :o

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

The planks would want to be looking more at how to get the M18,M20 and Newlands X done before 2015. Having rail and motorways coming in left right and centre isint enough for them. Fair enough Metro North will need to be done at some stage but after all t21 is completed.

I didn't expect anything of Fianna Fáil, other than more building of roads and housing developments. The Greens on the other hand sold themselves as the public transport party. Like the famous Dáil row where Trevor Sargent said "if the Greens were in Govt there would already be a railway to Navan". Let's just say I am very disappointed in the Greens and no amount of light-bulb replacement therapy or cycling projects will make up for the fact the have failed to even reform existing public transport services in Dublin

In fairness, at least one agency is developing a vision to work towards. Granted priorities and budgets will change between now and 2030 but at least there will be an agreed target.

[now can someone explain why we're planning to ban traffic in college green while reducing the number of dublin buses...]

You can't be serious? We've had targets missed from the last millenium. We all have the vision when sitting in traffic. Their visions are our visions, just repackaged and sold back to us. Spend long enough in traffic jams and you'll have time enough to consider the solutions we need. The Green Party just wanted a new Transport 21 so they could include bicycles and call it a vision. Screw the vision, just deliver the solution
