    Hi Remo,

    I stayed here - http://www.qualityinn-orlando.com/

It worked out at less than $90 per night per room - that included 2 double beds.

5 star it isn't, but it's on the Trolley line, and if you have a car, it's very central.

Friendly staff, clean, basic. On a budget, it's a good choice.

what parks you planning on visiting?? disney, universal, seaworld, wet and wild??

quality inn is good choice for universal, seaworld and wet and wild, its a long way from disney though approx 12 miles

rodeway international is another option, just up the road from quality inn but more a hotel than motel http://www.rodewayinnorlando.com/

Going myself in month or so. Try out uscarhire.co.uk or allstatescarhire.com for car rental. Basic rule of thumb is to avoid booking direct with car hire companies (eg, Dollar, Alamo, Budget, etc..) as you get screwed on price. Also, UK-based companies are cheaper at moment cos of exchange rate.

This is a bit wrong and mileading. The larger hire cos are just a cheap and will give you just as good a deal than any of those screen scraper sites. Actually, you're more likey to get an upgrade being a direct customer.
I've used hertz in orlando, good pricing and excellent service. Bus leaves the terminal every few mins and returns are a doddle too. If you get a neverlost sat nav in your car for $50 per week, its pre programmed to where to return the car to.

It obviously depends on the length of your trip and your requirements, but, as an example, we got a compact 4-door car for 2 weeks with an additional driver from Budget via one of the "screen scraper sites" as you call them, all for £256 (at today's exchange rate this is ~€283). Just had a look for a comparable package direct from Budget website and it is €322 for the basic rental + $126 for the additional driver. With different requirements you might find that booking direct is cheaper, but from my experience of hiring cars out in US, I've found that it pays to shop around some of these 3rd-party websites (and this is especially true with the current £ --> € exchange rate)

I am a Avis Preffered Member which means If I book online I get cheaper rates but like I have mentioned in soo many previous posts you get even better rates when you phone their offices in Cork

    1890 40 50 60

I have used http://www.uscarhire.co.uk and got a Dollar booking and got upgraded to the most luxurious car they had. :)

niceirishfella - You may have arrived into the package holiday airport of Orlando Sandford but in Orlando International airport ALL car hire companies pick up points are literally across a road into the multistorey car park.

    Hi Berty,
Thanks for the info - i must ring cork the next time i go.
btw- not ALL rental co's are literally across from MCO - Hertz's is a 10 min drive away.
Upgrades depend on whats in the yard/Lot and more often then not, if you come from a 3rd part website with your booking, you may not get a upgrade (you must have charmed them:))- I know this as i worked in the car rental biz for a couple of years and that was the norn with us.
Its a lottery sometimes with car rental but regardless of saving and shaving a few bob, renting any car or suv in the us is cheap in comparison to our own ripp off country.

Berty, does the Avis price include all the required insurance and extras? I hate booking a hire car, I always get baboozled by all the optional extras and extra insurance, I never know what is included as basic and what is considered extra. Good tip about ringing Cork, I'll definitely try that, I presumed the Irish office would only deal with rentals in Ireland.

So did I Ncmc but they deal with worldwide bookings. I booked my Australia booking with them and they were quoting in AUD$ instead of EURO.

Their Insurance can cover everything and Im sure they will try to sell it to you.

Agreed, there is a GLUTT of available properties for rent in florida at present and haggling is the way to go.
You can haggle off other charges like pool heating too.

Is this the only villa in Orlando. I must say it has got a lot of people talking about it on this forum and others. I also have a villa in Orlando, but would not rely on friends of mine posting on this forum to secure bookings for me.

Not at all, our place is doing rather well. Thank you very much for showing an interest:). All I am suggesting is that there are more professional ways of securing bookings for your property rather than getting your friends posting your website on here in the hope that someone might pick it up. There are a couple of thousand of villas in the Orlando area, and if we all decided to advertise on here, it would completely clog up the forum.
As an aside I thought you were not allowed to advertise on here. If I am wrong please tell me, I would love a bit of free advertising.
