First Road Bike

    Hey folks.

I'm in the market for my first road bike and was wondering if this:http://www.theedge-sports.com/acatalog/Kuota_Kharma_RRP_1695.htmlwould be overkill?

I've debated long and hard about Giants, Treks et al but thought, in for a penny. So I was debating whether to purchase this bike or not.

    Any comments/thoughts/advice?

If it's your first road bike I'd recommend having a test-ride (or several) before buying anything.

Hmmm, haven't ridden any type of bike (apart from an exercise bike) for 30 years...

In that case it would be unwise to buy something off the internet, sight unseen.

Get yourself into a few bike shops and try some out.

Sorry, should have mentioned, that is my local tri shop.

Just to throw another spanner in the works, my local tri shop is getting both of these bikes in stock. Which of these would be the best purchase?

Any comments/views would be much appreciated. :)

    Oh, it worked for me...

    I'll try it again: http://www.feltracing.com/09-catalog-unitedkingdom/road/sportive-road/09-z80-int.aspx

    Any better?

Felt site seems contrary about direct links. Anyway, the Z80, I presume.
I would prefer the Scott as it has a better groupset. The Scott is slightly lighter. The Scott has a compact chainset whilst the Felt has a triple. Your shop may be flexible about catering for your specific needs. 10 speed on the Scott, 9 on the Felt.
The first thing to do is find out a price for them.

From what I can remember I was told €1,000 for the Felt and €1,150 for the Scott, that's approx though, as at my age, my memory's shot lol... :(

The scott looks like a good bike. Having a Scot myself i can recommend them. For your first bike if its something you want to ride and not race, and something you want to last, I'd get an Alloy frame. The first carbon bike is nice but the Scott would more than suffice.

Yeah, I think the Scott is a more sensible price for a beginner, and is there not a possibility that the carbon frame on the Kuota could crack when (not if) I fall off lol...

Also, I think the Scott is a really sexy looking bike, yes?!
