I am wondering if anyone knows what there is not an option to book online for the Dublin to Sligo train option. Why are online bookings only available from Hueston station?

I just went through half the booking process from Dublin to Sligo and it allowed me. Are you sure you can't?

You are right, can book online although no special fares available like from Hueston. Any chance of this service getting quicker?

There aren't any special fares from Wexford either - I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the fact that they have the automatic turnstiles in connolly/pearse etc so theyd lose money by either having to issue tickets on the train on presentation of the print out or have an extra guy at the barrier when trains arrive to check peoples e tickets if they gave special fares and thus got bigger numbers?

Note Air Arann are doing a €10 each way offer at the moment in case that's of any interest.

The all important sentence is highlighted below which explains the restrictions on booking tickets.
There are rules that must be followed in order to continue to the reservation page.

At least one leg of the entire journey must be reservable.
You must select a complete journey by ticking all the applicable legs. In order to achieve this for multi-leg journeys you may be required to mix and match Premier and Ticket Only tickets. This is fine and your selection will be priced accordingly.
Ensure your outward time of travel is not within the next hour.
Ensure that your return journey does not start before the time your outward journey ends.

So for Friday and Sunday trains, there is probably a lack of seats available at short notice due to the high demand.

The reason that online tickets are not sold for either the Sligo or Rosslare routes is that there are still Commuter sets operating services on both routes, which do not have seat numbers therefore cannot be reserved.

Both of these routes have been priced at the lower end of the scale for many years reflecting the fact that they are single track virtually all of the way and potentially more prone to delays than other routes.
