Graphics card for Dell Vostro 200 MT

    Hi,

There were a few threads on this topic in the past, but all the cards suggested there seems to have gone out of production..!

I tried putting a nVidia 7900GT into the Vostro, but didn't get too far as all the power cables in Vostro are SATA and the card needs 6-pin molex (?), and the cooling fan needs another 4-pin molex - it all looks a bit much for the 300w PSU on the Vostro. Without the fan and additional power, the 7900gt works, but its worse than the on-board graphics, and it heats up so much, it smells like red hot iron!!

Any suggestions on a cheap graphics card that I can buy today, that will play blu-ray (HDCP compatible?) in future, and provide 1080p / higher resolution with normal use?

    thanks a million!

    Are these any good?

    Asus Radeon 3450 512MB PCIE DDR2 600/800 €35.41 inc vat

XFX GeForce 9400GT 512MB DDR2 PCIE DVI Low Profile €45.40 inc vat

Gigabyte Nvidia 9400GT OC IG 2xDVI €57.83 inc vat

Gaming is not a priority for me, but wouldn't mind if the card can support some modest games (Left4Dead etc may be?).

Just get some sata/molex adaptors on ebay, that's what I have had for nearly a year without issue with original PSU, plus I have a second hard drive and a blu-ray optical drive, no probs
