Ok, so i'm going to London this weekend for some gigs and thinking of hitting the Topshop on Oxford St while I'm there. I buy a good bit from the website as it is, but is the shop all it's cracked up to be? Can I expect anything that isn't on the website? Is it worth while even going there?

    Any comments appreciated :D

    Thankies much. :D

I've been dragged through it a few times by my wife :)
It's huge, there's lots in there, lots to look at, try on, decide you don't want and then 4 hours later have to go all the way back to to try on those red shoes because now you bought a red top. Then you try them on and decide that you won't get them, you'll get the very first white vesty top you picked up when you first walked in the store all those hours ago!

/sorry about that, in short, it's worth the visit if you like Topshop clothing. It can get very crowded and downstairs where the shoes are can get very warm.

I'd definitely go if you can, if your a Topshop fan, you'll love it! The ground floor is all accessories, there's loads of cool quirky stuff that you wouldn't see in regular topshop's and there's loads of vintage scarves, belts, bags etc.
The basement area has loads of different clothes brands and loads of vintage. The shoe area is brilliant and again has loads of brands other than topshop, such as an Office concession and Bertie etc.
Go if you can, it's definitely worth it!! :)

In it once with a female mate, think she died and went to heaven. If its anything like Topman in Britland, theres plenty of odds and ends you wont find here or up in Norn Iron on offer.

Eh? It's Topshop London! That's 'Britland' as you call it...or am I missing something?

The only reason it has more on offer than Topshop in Ireland or Norn Iron is because it's the flagship store, the Oasis flagship store in London also has loads more on offer than a regular store*...that's what 'flagship' stores are for. Go to any other Topshop store in London or the UK and you won't find much (if anything) on offer that you won't find in Dublin, Cork or Galway)

*Trust me, I know, I've been there too :( and to Karen Millen's flagship and numerous other flagships, story of my life really.

Oh my God, is it worth it?? My friend, it's worth the trip to London just for this shop!! Its HUGE , and you will spend (if you are anything like me) a couple of hours in it! And the fact that it's sterling means that it will be cheaper than here!! So buy all you can!

I don't even like topshop all that much, but topshop on Oxford street is HEAVEN!!!!

    Especially the independent designers floor!!

Do go there on your own, do give yourself several hours, do bring plenty of dosh or a healthily limited credit card!!!

    You will LOVE it!!!!!

Whoa! Hang on ladies, it's still just a Topshop, better than the other Topshops but a Topshop nonetheless, not exactly haute couture!!

If you want to go to London with plenty of dosh and spend money on quality clothes then Harrods, Selfridges or the retailers on Bond Street are the places to go.

Even if you don't want to go that upmarket, Topshop on Oxford Street is only a Topshop and while the range is far better and there are some ranges that are exclusive to the store, it it still a regular high street store.

The flagship Topshop is pretty amazing - clothes heaven! But since my budget only stretches to Penneys now and A-wear at a stretch, I find it really expensive, but it is worth it alone just to look at all the lovely, quirky clothes.

If you're into Penneys (Primark) go to the shop - I think - it's on Oxford Street too. Now that's my idea of heaven. Well laid out, lots more choice than any other Penneys and cheap as chips.

I've been a few times and I've never found it great, however, I don't really find I like much in Topshop anyway. There's a lot of non-Topshop brands in the basement which are cool.

Yes, and if the TopSHOP is anything like the TopMAN (I said Topman) in Britland, then there'll be a good few bits you wont find here.
    Selfridges

    +1

I went in there one weekend in September and the place was absolutely mobbed. Of course, the queues were 25 minutes long (the British love to queue ) so there was no way I was buying anything.

went first thing in the morning, no queues it was brilliant

    It's pretty damn big alright!!

The bottom floor is amazing, it's loads of my favourite brands piled into one place! The café in there is nice too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭SarcasticFairy

    There's a cafe?
I've been in it twice and it wasn't pretty. Do not go on a Saturday afternoon if you're even remotely claustrophobic (sp?). I swear to god, I went down to the basement and actually thought I was going to die. I had to get out. Same story the second time, I felt like I was being absolutely mobbed. I don't particularly like Topshop stuff anyway.
It's huge, there's an awful lot to look at, and if you're willing to fight the crowds because you love their suff, then yeah, have a look!

    ^ Yeah, it's EAT.

I actually didnt really like it all -its so big and it was hard to concentrate in it,i was running from rail to rail and bought nothing. I second the vote for Primark- Heaven!!!

For the love of god, whatever you do, do not go shopping in topshop on oxford street with three other girls.

it's brilliant, but too big. lost my girlfriends for a good two hours was horrible. I was there on a tuesday and all.

i would have liked to just gone in on my own.
i went there a couple of days ago and got some really lovely dresses, so yeah. class.
