Hey, Im in Perth now. Your best bet is to stay in a hostel for the first few days. Help recover from the jetlag and get your bearings.

www.gumtree.com.au and select perth as your city has a good few ads. The west australian newspaper has a full classified section every wednesday and saturday. As for price depends on location and closeness to the raillines. Your better off getting something close to a trainline. Xavi who is currently on holidays back home lives in Joondalup which is a cool spot. Kinda away from the city but still close enough by train with all the amenities. Im in Bullcreek which has nothing really here but a university and a shopping centre but its cheap as hell.
If you look there is another thread about living in perth.
