Can you recommend a car?

    Hi,

New addition to the family arriving soon and my wife will need to use the car while on maternity so that means I need to buy one for myself.

Can someone recommend a car that fits some or all of the following criteria?

    1. Fuel efficient.
    2. Hatchback for transporting stuff.
    3. Preferably diesel but does not have to be.
    4. 1.6L or below - cheap to insure - I'm 33.
    5. Decent tax band i.e. emissions not too high.
    6. (Try not to laugh) - budget of 2,500 euro :)

Any help would be appreciated e.g. would there be car auctions I could go to? Also, is it possible to get family insurance i.e. a single policy for the two cars? With FBD at the moment....

    thanks for any advice.

something like an old model Fiesta 1.25 should fit the bill. not too expensive to buy or tax, decent to drive and good on juice

Hop on carzone and set your budget to 3500-4000 (With a bit of haggling you could get down to 2500) and see what comes up. It'll give you an idea what you can get for your money. My opinion in that price range favour Japanese and German makes (in that order) over everything else - but not everyone agrees with that.
