Need to specify the type of music you are playing on the valve amp.
If it metal maybe an Engl Thunder for €755.

    Blues stuff

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_deluxe_vintage_modified.htm

There are others in the budget range like Peavey, Laney etc.

Bugera sound nice, use to be pretty bad for breaking, but i think that has been sorted now.
If you go for one the 6262 sounds nicer than the 333xl imo.

well the type of music is in those ranges. I'd like one thats versatile not specific.

Bugera are made by Behringer.... I don't think I can say any more. lol

Yeah, i was looking at these a while back but decided against. Of course you are going to see a rake of frat boys from america saying this amp is 'AAWESOME' but the fact remains that Behringer do not make decent stuff.

Ha yeah well, there were some mixed reviews on harmony central. Some guy melted two somehow? must of been wrong impedance or sumthin if thats even possible.

Yeah i think i remember that one alright. That was one of the strong deterents tbh. When you hear that kind of stuff best to steer clear.

Yeah but then you hear some great reviews from other ppl. But tbh ur not expecting anything truely spectacular for tht money. Just desperatly want a decent amp and burn the mg100hdfx

From my experiance with these amps you either get a good one or a bad one. Its very touch and go. One of my freinds has a 6260 and it sounds the bees knees, not up there with mesas or peaveys but a hell of a lot better than it should for the cash. Its got real tube warmth to it. Then on the other hand another freind of mine has a 6262 and it sounds more sterile than any solidstate ive played. Tried to record it and when it was miced up it sounded so bad we decided to use a pod instead.

Id reccomend playing before you purchase or try going down the second hand route. IF you get a good one there good, if you get a bad one there bad. Both of those amps have lasted a year now with zero issues though so i think the reliability thing is sorted.

We really can't rely on HC for good reviews.

Haha, sure i thought my SX amp sounded nice back in the day.
Playin a bass through a guitar amp! Looking back at it now... god all mighty!

As far as i know the don't.
I know youtube itsn't good for reviews really, but they sound pretty nice on there.
On that budget though man, i got my Peavey Triplexxx head for €525.
Second hand is by far the way to go when you're on a budget.

Pick up a used Marshall, Peavey of something better even. There are some awesome deals with unusual amps popping up on adverts, you just gotta watch.

Yeah i spose. Ill have an auld gawk around anyways, But i wont be buying anytime soon.

I was having a look at the line 6 spider valve but all the digital functions and presets annoyed me a bit. I want the good old plug in and play and the rest on the floor in front of me. It sounded a bit tranny at lower levels but got fookin loud very soon lol The tone wasnt too bad, and i had my hopes up for it but it just didn't really turn out to be what I wanted, mostly cause of the modeling crap.

In that case, how about something like a peavey windsor?
Clean with everything at your feet.

Well no not exactly. What i meant by that was, no digital effects really. I like to have all my effects in front of me, at my feet. Also ive read that its not very versatile. I want hi-gain but with also great clean tones. Something that can produce great lead tones cause thats what's letting me down live.

Like wise. Decided it was more of a childs toy than an amp.

What kind of distorted sound are you aiming for? Any song that would be similar to your goal? Also what clean tone. :)

Well i spuppose the best distorted sound im looking for is close to metal distorsion but I don't want to be stuck to that. I play shred also so I want a really nice lead tone.

"Metal distortion" is very general. It covers a lot of things. You'd need to be more specific.

I could throw out a load of names but I don't really know what you want. :p
Do you need one powerful enough for a gig or just for bedroom jammin'?

Lol ok. For leads I'd love a satch sound. ( I know theres many) Yeah i need something powerful enough for a gig.
Id love a mesa boogie amp but they really are out of my price range. But tbh Ive no money so i wont be buying soon. Just for future refernece really.
I just came across the auld bugera amp's and was wondering what ppl thought. I like the look and sound of the 333xl though, but wont get to play one.

For your price range, i would definately look at some of the 5-15w small tube amps..

I recently picked up the Blackheart Little Giant head (5w), for 170 Euro and it is seriously loud. The also do a 15w Handsome Devil version..

Other options would be Blackstar's range of heads and Orange Tiny Terrors..

Check out some of the demo's on Youtube, and don't be put off by what seems like low watts.. they are loud :)

    Blackheart 5w - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhvHUR8ROHA&feature=related
BTW only iMuso have blackhearts in stock.. and blackheart don't know when they will have any more available (moving factories in china), but they dropped the price from 150 UKP to 130 UKP for me :)

    Blackstar HT5 head - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbmrjqOjsAE
Love the sound of this one.. just didnt have a 4 Ohm output for me :(

    Orange Tiny Terror - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czfrNVn7Hjk
    Solo stuff - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE1_gVc4lVE&feature=related

I have to say out of them I do really like the Tiny Terror. I've always known of it but never bothered actually looking into it ya know?

I'm glad I did now. The only thing is, would it be suitable for gigs or more importantly band practice, as it can be mic'ed at gigs?

As far as i know (maybe someone else will comment).. with the tube amps you are looking at a loudness (for want of a better expression) of about 3 times to a similar solid state amp.. so the 15w setting on a Tiny Terror would be equivalent to a 50w (or so) solid state. Which should be plenty loud.. and as you say, for larger gigs it can be mic'd.

Found a Youtube video of the HT5 (5w) in a band setting.. it's at max i think, it's not too bad, so a 15w verison should be ok.. unless you all play rediculously loud.. :)
