What to wear with this dress???

I bought this dress. Now I'm not sure what to wear with it until the weather is warmer. In the summer I could wear dark brown sandals/slides etc..But in the early spring??

Would dark brown boots not work because they are too wintery? Could I get away with off white Converse?? I'm trying for something that would give it more of a casual look.

What could I wear over it if it's chilly? The stripes are actually a dark aubergine color, not blue like they appear in the pic:

I wouldn't go with the off white converse to be honest, you might end up looking like a nurse! Saying that it depends on your usual style, some people can just pull off anything!! Maybe try a pair of pumps with a very low heel for a more casual look? I think a pair of flat brown coyboy boots would look very cool too for a more relaxed look!!
The idea of wearing the brown boots is good imo, it's not too wintery, lots of shops still sell brown boots for spring!!

Personally, I think big chunky boots with a big woolly cardigan over a little summer dress is a really cute look in spring / autumn... Not 100% sure it would work with your shirt-style dress, but could be worth a try? (You're defo right about going for dark brown).

I had the same thought...I'm trying to get away from the nurse look or the 1950's waitress look. That's one reason I'm thinking of darker shoes. Low pumps are what I'd wear if I wanted to dress it up, but I want to wear the dress for more everyday and I do a huge amount of walking. Need something comfortable. I wonder if brown ballerina flats would work? I do have a pair of chocolate brown low heeled boots..If I wore those I would definitely want something darker on top to balance it out and keep me warm.

I have a short dark plum caridgan..would that work?

to make it less "matron" I would defo change the belt. Could wear a pair of leggins underneath with flats - but this could end up being a major no! would have to see it on to see if it worked. If you were to go for a cardigan - I'd make sure the belt stood out abit.
