2 1/2 Year Fixed Term contract not renewed

I work for a semi state company. My contract is up in September and not going to be renewed. Other employees who started after me have been given extensions. The reason i've been let go i think is a personal issue with the manager, she just does not like me. I have proof i'm a better worker than most.

Has anyone any idea what i can do?

    Op thats awful :(

Do you have a Hr Manager that you can go to, to circumvent the manager that you think has issue with you?

    Hi,
Talk to your Union Rep, if you are not in a union then join one and then talk to your rep. The obvious thing to do from here to September is strive to be the perfect employee with the most positive attitude just to ensure that the manager has no excuse.

Alternatively if you want to be devious and I state now that it is wrong and risky, is claim to be an alcoholic, if the semi-state has a doctor, they have to ensure that you receive treatment and you are not discriminated against as an addict, obviously this only applies if your in admin and not a safety critical job........ just a thought to consider and something else to have up your sleeve.

    Thanks lads,

I've joined the union, finding it very hard to be the perfect worker at the moment but trying real hard. Have a meeting with the manager tomorrow. After that i'll probably get the union involved and request a meeting with HR and the manager of the whole department.

Can you not request in writing from the HR or Board what is the reason for the termination? Surely they have to give you a written reason?

Will request a written letter tomorrow when meeting with manager, the way things work here could be waiting ages before i get it.

Why is this in Entrepreneurial & Business Management?????????

Had a meeting with the manager today. Was told that my performance was only fair, and the interview i did for the contract extension was only fair. Can't disprove the interview comments but have reviews showing the quality of my work. Any more suggestions

I don't want to sound rude - but surely this is not for the Ent & Bus Mgt forum???

if you have a problem with a post, you should use the "report post" which will allow you to send a message to the moderators of the forum (*I'm not one of them*). This is useful because it means that comments about the thread, rather than the thread subject, can be kept off-thread :)

tbh - I'm aware of that - but you'll see that there's a note on the "Report" page that specifies what the Report function is to be used for -

"Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. "

Didn't believe this this issue is covered within the above requirement. I'll withdraw my post if you wish, but I believe that when a forum goes way off-topic it's value gets diluted.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with you, and I'm certainly not trying to tell you what to do - I promise - just trying to help. I understand your point about what the text says.
