Garda:Carry Over Leave

    Hey all,

Sorry to bring this back to a Garda question but....

How many days leave are you allowed to carry over? I heard initially that it was 10 days - which is the common belief. Most recently i heard that a recent high court ruling stated that you can carry over as many days of AL as have been refused to you, i.e. more than 10 days if they have all been refused.

Im not sure what it has been like for you guys around the country with the overtime ban, but for me in a small station, getting AL has become very difficult unless planned WELL in advance. As a result, i have quite a few days left over with over 13 refused already!

    Your thoughts.....

I would suspect whatever the code says. Your local rep should have any updates on court cases etc.

I'm not sure this is the best subject for a public forum. (Just my opinion before I'm slaughtered!!).

Once leave has been refused you're entitled to carry over that day, no matter how many it is.
