Considering the possibility of becoming a tax consultant and wonder if anyone has any general advice? I have 2 years professional FS experience in a business development role (non financial advisory) and have a Masters in Law from Trinity. What could I expect in terms of a trainee salary? How much do the exams cost? Are firms taking on these people this year? How doable are the exams? All help appreciated, thanks.

I signed up for the first year of the Tax consultant course a few years ago. I had a done a year of an accountancy course before and it was ok .I found the tax thing too boring for words.

Plus helping already rich people skiv off paying a bit more taxes and looking for tax loopholes seemed like a pretty poor way of making a living, despite the money I'd be making.

And the course is pretty costly if you don't have a company paying for it.

    Thanks for that.
