My radio's messed up

Hi, I have an 03 Seat Cordoba. Recently I got a new battery so this may be the cause of the problem. Basically my radio cannot tune in or anything, the CD in it won't eject and none of the buttons work except the 1-7 channel selector which just changes the number on the LCD screen to 1000 2000...etc.

What's up with it? Does it need to be reset or something?

    Cheers.

Aye you need a code for the radio.

Check your owners manual book for a leaflet on the radio. If where it was orgionally bought should have it.

Cheers, that sorted it out. Why do you need a code btw? What's the point, like? It's hardly a security mechanism to make sure the person who steals your car can't enjoy listening to the radio.

Lol, can't say i know to be honest.

Arah, i'm sure it's there if someone robs the radio. Hardly worth anyone's while robbing a cars standard radio though lol!!

If you don't know where the car was bought origionally, just chance the respective dealer for the cars reg plate. Worked for me the last time :D

I put in the wrong code for my radio, how do I get it back to where I can put it the right code?

usually if you leave it an hour or so it gives you another go.

It generally has to be left switched on, though.

I`ll give it a go, I`m not to bothered by it cause I`ve another radio I want to put into it, but I`m having trouble finding a release ket for it. I have a Seat Cordoba, would a universal key do the job? I looked in Halfords and they're not particularly helpful, cant seem to find a specific one, but saw a universal one, not sure if it will work.

I did`nt bother to try and put in the code, I managed to get the radio out with 2 nail files. It took a while but I got the new one in, only problem I have now is that when I pull out the key the radio stations dont stayed stored in the memory. They store once the key is in, even when I turn off/on the radio. The connections only go in one place, I had one connector left over, there was no where for it to go. Everything works, just cant get it to store radio stations once key is out, maybe there`s a setting I`m missing. Its a Sony CDX-GT33U.

This sometimes happens when you change a stereo.
Take stereo out, you will have 2 live wires on the back of it,one red one yellow, permanent live and memory.
Should also be a one red and one yellow on the cars wiring loom to stereo.
Connect stereo yellow to car looms red and stereo red to car looms yellow.
Refit stereo, set station presets switch off ignition take out key, wait a minute or two and switch on ignition.
Your preset stations will be still tuned.
Whats happening now is the permanent live is not getting power with ignition off, both red and yellow wires are live with ignition on.
Do as I said above and your sorted

I`ll give it a go tommorrow, sounds complicated, as it seemed there was no more place to connect anything, will I have to start pulling wires out of them socket yolks, like the spare on that goes into nothing?

I got it sorted, just did as you said, tough it was very awkward to get the radio back in, not an awful lot of room for connectors and stuff thanks again! :D:D:D

    Its called memory power.
I have a sony head unit, and when I first installed it it did this too. Pull out the unit, and on the sony wiring, you should see a yellow (i think) wire that has a banana plug on it, connecting into a lead that has 2 wires and 2 connectors. Swap the yellow wire to the other connector, and you should be set. Check the installation guide for the head unit for more details, or consult a mechanic or a friend in the know.

Edit: Just read the rest of the thread........ Glad you got it sorted
