short sightedness

I've always heard that short sightedness stabilizes once you reach adulthood. I'm 25 now and still changing my prescription annual, I'm at -8 lens or so now.

Just wondering what peoples experiences are? How common is it to be still changing glasses this often?

I'm 39 and mine is still changing :( It took a major hit in my mid 20s when I started using computers on a regular basis. Over a few years I'd say I went from -6ish to -8ish. A year and a half ago my vision had actually improved a tiny bit but at last weeks test they'd got worse again- worst I've ever been now (-8.75/-8.25).

I don't know if eyesight is more unstable at higher levels

I was told exactly the same when I was 21, but am now 26 and it gets worse with every test. I think it might have something to do with contacts, beacause I wear mine a lot!

I got glasses when I was 7. I was told to wear them as often as possible and I'd grow out of needing them.
    Horse****e.
As far as I can see (hehe) I just became dependent on them.

Oh, and myopia is the term for short sightedness. :)

I got my first eyetest at 16 and was -2.25 (was bad too for a few years before and didn't even realise - thought "this was how everyone sees things"). I'm 31 now and it's still the same -2.25. I'm a heavy computers user too. So I guess it's different for everyone.
