Contact lenses O2 Optix or Acuvue

I've been wearing O2 Optix lenses for ages and have always been happy with them but I felt that I needed a new prescription as my eyesight wasn't as sharp as it should be so I had an eyetest last week and was given a trial pair of Acuvue lenses. The optician said they were made from silicone hydrogel the latest material for contacts.

Now I'm not entirely sure about them, my eyes seem to get very dry from them and I think I could wear the 02 Optix for longer more comfortably. But maybe it's because it takes a while to get used to them.

I'm not asking for medical advice here, I have a check up booked 2 weeks from the day I had the eyetest so the optician can check how I'm getting on with them. I will tell him this but I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on these brands of lens from past experience.

I will be ordering 6 months supply so I want to make sure I'm happy with what I do order.

    I've been on both.

FOR ME the 02 Optix are by far more comfortable to wear and cheaper. No brainer pour moi. Sharpness of vision was the same.

Thank you, that's interesting to hear because having worn the same brand of lenses for at leat 2 years I was wondering if it's just me having trouble adjusting to a new brand.

Is it possible that Acuvue lenses are expensive and the opticians prefer to recommend them for that reason? To be honest I'm not too worried about the cost because I plan on ordering them online anyway when I've chosen what I'm going to use.

Can I also ask about the solution? He gave me a trial bottle of solution recommended for silicone hydrogel lenses. This costs around €15 and my regular solution has been Boots multi-purpose which is about €6. Big price difference there if it isn't really needed. I've never had eye infections so I'd imagine the cheap one is suiting me fine.

I work for a contact lens manufacturer in this country and the problem with the SILICON-HYDROGEL lenses is that any company that sells them does so on the basis that you'll find their accompanying solution the best partner solution, due to the differing ways each one finishes their individual product. Your best bet may be to try changing your lens solution to fit

I'm not sure what make my contacts are. I go to a local optician and it's €100 for two pairs of yearly lenses. They might be Bausch and Laumb.

I wear Air Optix and have been using SiBoSol solution from lensbase for some time now - €23.98 including delivery for 6 250ml bottles and two cases. No problem with the company or the solution, in fact personally find the solution easily the best I have ever used. As an aside the cheapest place that I am aware of to buy Air Optix monthlies is yourlenses and is where I buy mine - no problem recommending the company who are based in Sweden.
