Hair Curling

I know this is a tired topic at this stage but I've been trying for AGES to curl my hair with my straighteners and have more or less mastered it but the curls stay best at the front and my hair at the back goes flat within an hour or two. I'm using really strong hairspray and the straighteners are quite hot, any suggestions what I could do differently?

Wash your hair at night and curl in the morning, or try putting setting lotion (you can get this in smaller chemists, it's a bit grannyish but great for holding curls) in your hair before you dry it.
