Good decision by the GAA, but in fairness they would have been retarded to turn down the millions of euro they would have stood to make from the deal. Heres hoping for an all ireland semi final

Not really, but I'd much prefer to play Quinns in a stadium with prob 60-70-30-40 support rather then 50-50 in a huge derby match. Although considering the last time the two meet in a HEC semi-final when Leinster bottled it maybe I should be up for Leinster.:pac:

tbh it was always on the cards. They really wouldn't turn down the amt of money they would get from it. Glad its confirmed. Now to win Against the Ospreys and we'll see how Leinster fair. An all ireland semi would be a great match alright

I think the GAA deserve great credit for this decision, this was a lot more than money in their pockets it was about supporting Ireland and fair play to them they made the decision before the result of the QF.

Hopefully, in a few years they might open a few of the provincial grounds for similar matches, it would be great to see a provincial rugby team play in one of the provincial GAA grounds should the need arise, imagine Connacht filling Pearse Stadium.

    Anybody know the amount?

The IRFU made more from Croker than the GAA did.

I think I heard it was €2.5m per match (which would steal leave the IRFU with at least €4m).

The gate receipts from the semi don't go to the IRFU though, they go to the ERC - which is why they're understandably happy about the whole thing. Will be funny to have the semi in a larger ground then the final.

The average rental income for the GAA from IRFU & FAI matches is €1.35 million.

Once the attendance in Croke Park is around 30,000, an operating profit for the event is guaranteed, and obviously this increases exponentially with the increasing attendance, viewing figures and associated commercial revenue.

As Podge rightfully said, the gate goes to the ERC, rather than the host club/province. I expect Munster to win their home quarter-final, whereas Leinster will have a tougher assignment. Either way, should a home semi-final come to pass, it will be a fantastic occasion.

If both teams qualify, it'll be impossible to get a ticket, although if Leinster fail to beat 'Quins and Munster beat Ospreys, I don't think it'll be a full house. But certainly still in excess of 70,000.

Hopefully both teams will keep up their end of the bargain and qualify!

Good to see the GAA getting €2.5M and not €1.35M.

    The figure doesn't increase, it's a rent.

Really? I think the game will probably sell out either way. It will be a big event and those who can't make it to Edinburgh will want to go I'd say. I imagine the Munster fans will sell it out by themselves. It's not even going to be funny how hard it will be to get tickets if its a Munster-Leinster game.
