Failed NCT

    Car failed NCT today.

Everything was fine except the rear door wouldn't open. This royally pissed me off tbh. The rear doors tend to stick and if they haven't been opened in a while (which they haven't) then it just takes a little more effort.

The guy said he couldn't open it but when I went out to my car after I could do so with no real problem:mad: It's just such a stupid reason to fail!

Anyway, I'm not going to even bother my arse trying to ''fix'' this, I'll just be sure to open and close them just before the next test so they're not so sticky. I'm just wondering, does the car have to go through the whole test again? Or is it just a case of showing up and getting the doors checked?

Thank christ it's free the second time around.

    Cheers guys...

I presume its just the door they will check next time you bring back again for a check. They normally send someone out to the car and he might open and close once or twice.

    He should have told you.

Sounds like its just a visual inspection so you probably won't even be charged.

Grease or oil the door before you go anyway.

Yep, I'm just after reading the fail report and it says on the back that no booking is required, just to arrange a time to call back before you leave. He could have mentioned this to me before I left!!

I tried to call the LoCall number but they're closed at the weekends.
I tried to get the number for Fonthill via 11811 but they put me through to the LoCall no.
I try to rebook online but it says ''your vehicle does not require a test at this time''.

I swear, I'm going to punch someone in the face:mad:

My time is too precious to be dealing with this shoite when I could be doing something much more productive, like **** or watching paint dry.

How precious is your time? For €50 I'll pick up your car, bring it to Fonthill and back again ;)

Realistically, Fonthill is open today and tomorrow, you could chance popping by at some stage if you were passing.

You should have shown the tester straight away that the door does open and he would have passed ya!

I was being failed once because the tester couldn't click in the rear seat belts for some reason. I showed him by clicking the belt in and out about 10 times in a row and he passed me

But anyway, as the others said, don't bother booking it in, just show up, be nice and ask them to do a visual retest for you

I told him that it just sticks, that it does open and that I could show him.

He didn't seem interested, said I should show it to a mechanic.

they should of retested it there and then. i once failed an nct for parking bulbs being a bit too blue so i swapped them out 5 mins after the test and went back up and he passed me.

I don't think you have to book for a visual inspection. I didn't have to the last time I went for one, though that was a couple of years ago now.

+1 on the grease and oil. Sounds like you got a trucking tanker of a dude testing. Just bring it down and try get them to take a quick look
