F***ING NAT!!!

    Hi all,

Really sorry for starting a NAT thread, but I've search for NAT and gone through each thread but still can't get Type 1 or 2.

I have Eircom BB with a stupid stupid Netopia 2247 router.

Have updated firmware on the router. Opened all necessary ports on router. Set Static NAT to my PS3 IP Address and set the firewall to none.

I'm conntecting the PS3 to the router via CAT5 cable.

Have tried using pppoe from the PS3 - won't work. Have tried connecting using automatic everything - get NAT 3.

I have gotten NAT Type 1 twice (by using pppoe from the PS3). But on both occasions I can't sign in to PSN or go online. The connection drops after a few seconds. Retest and I can't even obtain an IP address.

Could someone please please tell me how do I go about getting NAT Type 1 or 2. It's driving me mad.

you cant get nat 2 on eircom's 2247
for nat 1 reset the router in its webpage back to factory settings then do pppoe thing on ps3 using username broadband1 or eircom@eircom.net and password broadband1

    Thanks for the reply.

Reset the router and when I run a connection test I get Nat type 1.

However, when I try to sign into the PSN all I get is a connectin to the network could not be established!

    Any ideas??

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the replies.

I gave up on the NAT 1 pipe dream.

I've opened ports required by individual games that I have. They seem to be working now even though I'm still on Type 3.

I might just scrap the Netopia if it doesn't work in the long run and get a linksys

I had the PPOE method working on a netopia 3347 and the replacement 2247 from eircom. I had NAT1 no problems.

Anyway, got hold of a netgear DG834g v4 router and have NAT2. Yipee. Connecting via my LAN. PS3 reports that UpnP is unavailable but when you check the router it reports the ports that it is forwarding via UpnP. Forwarded all ports listed on portforward.com, 3 sets. I even have a better wireless signal strength from PS3 to router compared to the eircom one. Next to get the PS3 media server up and running.

I have the same router and have set up the NAT 1 type.. You'll always get a connection error when you power up the PS3.. You just need to give it a few min so it can obtain an ip address directly off Eircom (don't forget NAT1 basicly means bypassing the router so you won't get an ip address from your 2247 router).. Then you'll get signed into PSN and you should be sorted...

    Good luck

    Thanks for the advice Jarrath.

As we speak I'm trying to setup the Netopia as a bridge and use a Linksys wireless router to handle everything else. I should then be able to put the PS3 into the DMZ and get Nat 1! ...In theory

    Hey,

Ended up just buying a new ADSL modem + router. Gave up on the Netopia altogether.

On Nat 2 now and the PS3 is in the DMZ.
