Mostly, I thank posts so that when I'm bored, it's like having my own "best of boards" section to flick back through..
It's my way of tagging them.

I would love a "completely disagree" button under posts aswell as a "thanks" button tho :P

So why do ya thank posts? and do you like being thanked?

There's some thanks for ya!! :p I agree with the 'disagree' option too, sorta a thumbs up and thumbs down type system.

I thank posts if they state my exact opinions on what's being discussed, thus saving me the effort of typing anything.

And I LOVE being thanked :D

I thanks posts when i completly agree with that the poster has to say, or if the post makes me laugh, actually laugh, not just smile.

It's nice when someone thanks your posts because you feel yous said something that relates the the thanker in some way.

Tis nice to be thanked and means your doing / saying something right ;)

I thank people for different reasons ,some as above but also funny quotes are deserving to .

My favourite posts to thank are ones that actually make me LOL. Ah there's been a few in AH this week :) Like being thanked, I suppose everyone likes it when someone agrees with them.

If I see a really witty remark or what they are saying is spot on.

I thank people who are able to put across what i want to say better than i could myself. Find myself doing it a lot lately.

I have no friends. I thank people hoping that they will remember me, and want to be my friend.

I thank people who insult people I don't like.

I do it when i see something that looks like it wasn't written by window-licking cretin.

    I don't thank a lot of posts

Which explains why many ( but not all ) boards people have more thanked posts than others .

When they don't have the words Ads by Google just to the left of them.

I thank people because Im new and want to be liked :)

I call it my lazybutton. It's to thank for mirth gained, point out the fact that I have acted on something, to give thanks to users that have pointed out spammers etc, and as a +1 'I agree' quickbutton. A multifaceted thumb it is.

    Me too. :)

There are lots of different reasons to thank posts. Very handy when you're too busy to post yourself and someone sums up your opinion for you too.

I thank them if I'm sexually attracted to their avatar. So basically, I thank Dudess and Turd Ferguson.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,252 ✭✭✭✭stovelid

I don't fancy your avatar, btw.

    A) I actually 'lol' because I hate replying and typing 'lol'
    B) I agree with a point the poster is making
    C) And works great in the photogrpahy forum and cuts out 40 posts of 'Great Pic' and 'Nice Shot' etc..

    Not necessarily.

I'm a selfish arsehole who has no regard for other people's opinions but I love getting thanked. Strange eh?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 970 ✭✭✭Kirnsy

personally i hate being thanked on the IN-TER-NEt.

its not personal enough. like if you are seriously going to thank me, one should PM me, get my phone number off me, ring me up and explain exactly why you thanked me.

im not paranoid i swear its just i cant stand being thanked in posts. it makes me nervous.

so basically DONT thank this post cos it upsets me loads.

i hate thanks-whores who say things just to get thanked.

I've just thanked your post. I'm going to let it stay there for a few tantalizing moments and then remove it.

I'm in negative equity too but 'tis better to give than to receive. Right?

Used to be very stingy with the aul Thanks button when it first appeared, reserving it for only the finest of fine posts but then I began to found new uses for it and I'll thank any old muck these days.
