    Hi
Any experience of these diesel tuning chips e.g. http://www.kbtv.info/dtu.htm

Going for around €100 on ebay - It looks like a fairly cheap solution for an extra 25 or so bhp, and improved fuel consumption.

But do they work at all ? Anyone tried them out.

    Waste of money.

No such thing as free power.

You're probably better off with a remap. It also depends on your car - the 90bhp VAG diesel isn't as tunable as the 110bhp version and needs a few bits - new turbo etc.

It's obviously not free - you need to offset increased component wear, higher fuel costs etc. For €100 I'd guess it's the old resistor/temp sensor thing - tricks the engine into using more fuel.

    Yep, remap probably better.

Seen one of these in a 110bhp Toledo, the increase in power was very noticable - but it makes you drive it faster and the fuel consumption drops - about 15% or so.

    Thanks

It'd be nice to try one out without buying ! Just to see. It does seem cheap for the claimed power increase alright.

I've a 2.0hdi 407, currently 136bhp, potentially increased to 163bhp by this chip. Maybe someone here has had the same engine remapped and could give me an idea of the results?
