    From RTE.ie
477 jobs are to be lost with the closure of RR Donnelley Global Turnkey Solutions in Raheen Industrial Estate in Limerick.

The company made the announcement today and said the job losses will be on a phased basis over the next nine months.

The job losses had been widely expected following the announcement by Dell, the company's main client, that it was closing its Limerick operation.

AdvertisementThe decision was a result of 'customer's shifts in strategic direction' as well as global economic conditions, the company said.

The company, whose global headquarters are in Chicago, provides print and related services to businesses around the world.

Modus Media lost this similar work from Dell back in 2001 and closed its Plassey operation. They are now only based in Kildare as Modus Link.

Although the jobs are lost Banta is still operating, however, from Poland supplying the Polish factory.

I feel bad for the staff but their saving grace is that they knew this was going to happen so will surely have been making other plans.

Limerick is thrown into chaos and reverts to a primitive state reminiscent of Road Warrior:rolleyes:

This was pretty much known the day Dell announced their plans for Limerick. Still doesn't make it any better though.
