With one week to go, any predictions on how this show is going to shape up? Another cheap rip off, or will it stand on its own two feet?
Thursday 19th, 22:15, RTE1. Would-be entrepreneurs are challenged to come up with innovative business ideas and must convince potential investors Gavin Duffy, Bobby Kerr, Sean Gallagher, Niall O'Farrell and Sarah Newman to part with their cash for a stake in the enterprise. Presented by Richard Curran.

I just saw ads recently on RTE for an Irish version of the Dragon's Den.
The Irish Dragons are successful entrepreneurs and business leaders who have been there, done that. They are: Gavin Duffy, Bobby Kerr, Sean Gallagher, Niall O'Farrell and Sarah Newman.

Hmm... I'm unsure as to whether an Irish version of this show will work. However, I do think that there will be much unintentional hilarity. Anyone got any thoughts?

starts Thursday week apparently. The dragons are far lower profile than in the Uk show, and given the current environment they couldn't have timed it worse.

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it, but hopefully there will be some highlights as well as embarrassing moments for entertainment purposes :D

Don't actually know any of the judges but in the present economic climate I'll be surprised if they get through the series without any of them being declared bankrupt.

Starts next Thursday actually (10:15, RTE1) ... One of the dragons was an interviewer in the second last episode of The Apprentice on TV3.

Yeah Gavin Duffy - does media training and is first class..probably has other strings to his bow as well.

Went up against Morning Ireland for Century Radio all those years ago..after a stint on LMFN.

LOL at this show, a bunch of irish heads showing their contraptions to people nobody has a clue who they are.

Did anyone know who the original Dragons were when this show started first though?

Why do we always have to make Irish versions of English things when the English already have the money and population to do it far better than we ever could?

What's next, an Irish soccer league?

Witnessing the shambles that is The All Ireland Talent Show last night made me wish they'd just bought the rights to 'Got Talent' instead of inventing their own miss-match of different shows.

I was surprised however at the quality of The Apprentice here (not that it was amazing or anything, but better than your usual remake), and the same production company is handling this, so there is potential.

this was obvioulsy recorded months ago? if so, in all that has happened , could it be out-dated already . I loved the uk version but im worried that we'll be watching pitches for new business that we might already know has zero chance. Just hope works, and is relevant to today.

Why on earth is it on so late? Isn't the English version on at 9 or thereabouts?

Was wondering this myself, it's on after Prime Time!
Surely that's going to make a lot of potential younger viewers tune out...

Unless RTE are planning on sexing up the den for later viewing!

Just back from an exclusive showing of the Dragon's Den. Not a bad first programme and I think people will be pleasantly surprised with the show on Thursday and how professional it looks. Some light humour in there as well. Certainly there was parts which had the audience in the room laughing anyhow.

Make sure to look out for the 2 lads with the cash register. Without a doubt the best bit in the show ;)

Starting tonight on RTE :D The Dragons are Gavin Duffy, Bobby Kerr, Sean Gallagher, Niall O'Farrell and Sarah Newman. (I've never heard of any of them...but Gavin Duffy looks REALLY familiar...am I right in thinking he's the guy who reduced Nikki to tears in interviews on Apprentice?)

I for one will definitely be watching!

    Starts tonight

I see some still have lots of cash to invest - recession must not be hurting everyone

    cant wait for it tonight.

it might not be as good as the BBC version but still be worth watching.

the only one I know on the list is Niall O'Carroll, he owns Black Tie. he was on "The panel" recently.

Its a Japanese show. Millionaire was an American show. It's just the British get there first.

I think it will be a laugh though, just like poor Gaybo's attempt at Millionaire.

I'm after going through all the profiles of the Dragons, and compared to the UK Dragons their a pale comparison. The profiles talk of turnover in the company they work in and very little about net wealth. I once worked in a company and their turn over was more than 100 million but you don't see me on the telly.

This fella Sean Gallagher I can't see his reason for being picked as a Dragon it's just says more of his CV

I'm prepared for another distinctly Irish take on a popular format.
It should provide its fair amount of 'The Office' type of humour :D

    Should be interesting alright.

Yup, I happened to know one of the contestants personally :) He caused a few laughs during the interview in itself lol
The ideas will be just as "good" as the british one I think, but is the cash there? The UK dragons each have upwards of 300million in their pockets and so can afford to do this kind of thing, what about our irish ones? If they invest in 2 ideas lets say, will they have to refrain for the rest of the season?

I saw the promo advert for it yesterday with them all walking purposefully towards the camera. One of them looked like a fierce gimp.
That aside, I'm looking forward to tonights show.
