Can I borrow a turbo trainer?

A long shot I know but I shattered my shoulder on Tuesday playing racquetball. Chipped my clavicle and tore the AC joint. The upshot is I won't be able to cycle (or swim or run) for about six weeks. The only exercise I'm permitted is on a fixed bike but the exercise bikes in my gym have huge saddles and any extended use tends to chafe my less-than-svelte thighs. Hence the turbo trainer. I'm happy to pick it up if it's in the Dublin area and will leave a deposit to be determined by the lender. (I know I could just buy one but I also know that I'm incredibly unlikely to use it outside these circumstances.)

I have a 1994-vintage (but very good at the time) fluid trainer in the attic (Dublin 15).

You're welcome to borrow it, although I haven't used it in about ten years.

I'm in Cork and have a trainer sitting in the garage. I don't intend it using it 'till the summer.

Re the chaffed thighs on the stationary bike just use vaseline.

Hey rflynnr, will drop TT over to your place tomorrow. You are welcome to it as I am "banned" from using it in the house. Last time I was told that it sounded like "a rocket was going off in the house". While that could be taken as a compliment I know that it wasn't intended as such!

    That's hilarious!

Get well soon, Flynnr, then we'll get in training for the small matter of the Wicklow 200...

Thanks for that and apologies to all for not coming back on this sooner. Today is the first day in work where I can remove the sling and type with both hands. Typing with my left hand only proved agonisingly clumsy and slow so I've largely limited myself to mousing my way round the computer desktop. In particular thanks to Lumen and CKurtz for their generous offers but Forza Milo turned out to be just down the road and has already delivered the trainer to me. Now to actually set it up using one-hand...

@rflynnr: Read this if you have not already done so.

    Jaysus,

If that article is in any way accurate I've already potentially lost 30% of my overall endurance performance. (And it's not like I'm starting from an amazing base here.) I'm going home right now to get on the turbo trainer.

It's hard to get going after injuries - I was over 8 weeks off, even if I did do a bit of turbo... It's depressing to see that your fitness is gone. I have yet to try a WW hill ... I am really worried :(
    So ... 1 advice ... TURBO!!!!!!!
