On 123.ie there seems to be very few cars on which it would cost me more than €1700 to insure myself. M3s, AMG mercs, etc all would cost me €1700 comp. I was paying €1400 for my 1.8 s40 last year and its only €950 now. Im a 23 year old male, with 1 yr full liscence and 3 yrs named driver.

Was just pricing last night when i was bored and if i wanted a Vauxhall VX220 it would be insured fully comp for €1150!! Thats seriously cheap for a car with that type of performance.

Getting a performance car is ever more realistic. :D

Bear in mind that insurance companies are making a loss at the moment, so the prices may start to rise this year.

I don't know about the performance cars - I'm still a few years away from the one I want to get, but certainly I think young males are getting much better quotes than I could ever have dreamed of. Lads in their early 20's getting quotes for less than 2K on M3s and what not. I was paying £2700 / €3500 in a 1.1 when I was 22.

That said, a few people are reporting that premiums are on the increase again - so maybe it's been a bit of a pendulum effect.

Edit - the quotes I'm getting for 3rd party cover on 123.ie are more expensive than what I am currently paying for fully comp - but strangely if I were to change to an M5 (double the engine capacity, value and BHP) fully comp would be around €1,350. Hmmmm.

Some places seem to be going up, but 123.ie seem to pretty cheap.
I thought they had the €4K excess but that seems to be gone now.

The will not quote me on an Evo X though :(

Ah, so that's the catch. Isn't that the crowd where you don't accumulate a no-claims bonus as well?
