Applying for 2 positions in the same company

    Hey,

I'm looking for some advice about applying for 2 positions in the same company.

There are 2 jobs advertised with a company (and hopefully they are both available) I am interested in working for, however they are in different roles. I should be qualified for both positions although have more experience in one of them. But unfortunately it isn't the position I'd prefer to have.

Should I apply separately for both positions, apply for both in one email or only apply for one position and hope that if they don't want me for that one they still consider me for the other?

Personally I wouldn't. It shows desperation I think. You should decide on which job best suits your skill set, adapt your CV and covering letter for that job and go for it.

Thanks, that what I assumed I'd need to do. Just wanted to get other peoples opinion on it.

When I was looking for work last year I sent in for a job (my current one) that was given to someone else before I got an interview. A few weeks later an other job came up in the same company but different area and location. I applied for it and was given an interview. The day before the interview I got a call to say the original position had come up again and that they wanted into interview me for it (two days after the second positions interview) It was a better position and a step up. So I agreed to interview. I went into the second positions interview and out right told the interviewer this. He was really nice about it, we had a good chat and left on good terms. At the original interview I was told he had contacted them and given good phrase (spell?) I ended up getting the original position.

In these times where jobs are few and far between. Go for everything you can. Say it to the interviewer that you have a second interview with the company. If you like both jobs, and would want to/can do both. What would be the problem?
