Anyone know any Level 6 Fetac or postgrad courses

Would like to do through distance learning preferably or part-time would be fine the only catch is they need to finished within 9 months

So basically any fetc level 6 or postgrad that accredited i.e. fetac/hetac that can be done in a 9 month period

Any area would do but a postgrad psychology course or behavioural or community development would be good

Can you provide some context? - what's your current qualifcation level and subject and what job/career area are you aiming at.

thanks for the reply the context is weird and not that all academic

I have bacholeor of education primary school teaching dgree (2.1) already.

What i need to be by say Dec 09 is a recent graduate of a course that is equivalent to fetac level 6 or above i reckon probably some postgrad satisfy but it doesn't have tobe by the looks of it the level 6 fetac award is enough(which i think is a basic cert)

Any course will do but my preferred areas would be best as listed above(psychologyetc.) but the main thing is to be a recent graduate with an award at the levels mentioned above by Dec 09.

So would more than likely need to start the course soon hence my questions.

I really hope someone can help with this question??? There must be something about bu t i can't find it

I'd like to work during this course so an evening or even better still an online distance course would be best.

I did a level 6 course about 3 years ago. It was a year long, It now runs as a two year course.

I would suggest having a look at http://www.fetac.ie/modules/L6%20Index.html

and see if there are any courses you could get a lot of exemptions from.

My guess is Advanced Supervision in Childcare may overlap with what you did. I did this course and got exemption from all IT modules because I had a BSC in Business & IT.

    Good luck

www.oscail.ie and the OU spring to mind.

So you have a Level 8 award on the National Qualifications Framework if you have a BA Hons degree. I'm still not clear as to what you are trying to get into and why 'recent graduate' is so important - you are a graduate already.

I think you are misunderstanding what is required of you.

    I agree.

Basically, you have a Level 8 qualification. A post-grad will either be Level 8, or Level 9.

A level 6 qualification is a Higher Certificate. You would gain nothing by doing a Level 6 qualification in the area you are qualified already. Essentially, you would have done it already as part of your B. Ed.

I don't really think many Level 8/9 courses start this time of year - they usually start in September and last 9 months.

ok i'll be honest with you guys the new american j visa that was recently announced alllows you to travel and work in the states for a year.

The only catch being that you must be a recent graduate(within the last twelve months) of an accredited course equivalent to or higher than a fetac level 6 award.

    Here's the blurb:

Be a bona fide post-secondary college/university student (enrolled and participating) or a recent graduate. A recent graduate is defined as an Irish citizen who has graduated from a post-secondary college/university in their home country not more than 12 months prior to the start of their internship beyond graduation. The applicant must provide evidence from his/her post-secondary institution of student status or graduation.
Vocational students pursuing studies at a tertiary level accredited academic institution are not eligible for participation unless such vocational study is part of a structured program leading to a degree or other credential recognized as equivalent to Level VI of the Irish Higher Education System.

So anyone spot any holes in that statement the vocational study bit could be interesting if you were doing a level 4 or 5 course that leads on to a level 6 you could satify the requirement but still what would "structured mean" in this context???? Would it be a level 5 childcare course that obviously leads onto a level 6 course???????

Anyhow now you all know my devilish plan, help me!!

I thought this new Visa scheme for the US was targeted largely at those without degrees but had completed their secondary education, I heard the Ambassador on George Hooks programme talking about it at the end of last year. Interesting that 'recent graduate' has been added.

The thing is you are a graduate - you cann't erase that fact just because your last course studied was a Level 6 FETAC course.

Just my take on the situation.

well no mention in the requirements about past degree's etc. how are they to know anyway.

Regardless all they want to see is an award cert from a level 6 fetac course or below which is part of structured program so can't see how they could refuse you on those grounds
