what are the best type of snow socks out there in the market?
personally i have tended to purchase northface on-line and these have worked well for me
however at 65 quid a pop i'm not interested in splashing out bigtime this year

I dont care what the "best" are - I just have ones from M+S. Not paying loads for socks. I think they are one of the things you can get away with not paying a lot for.

its important to have good quality socks tho dont you think
your performance on the snow would suffer around day 3/4 if you dont have good quality socks in my opinion

I got Barts socks in the great outdoors. Around €7.50 a pair I think. Heading off on Saturday so I don't know how good they are yet though...

I got some Technica socks in TKMaxx a few years ago and they're the best I've bought. Steer clear of Aldi ones - they get 'flabby' really quickly and aren't really worth it.

No why would socks affect what my skiing was like on the 3rd or 4th day. I have a pair for each day mostly the same make and I dont notice any difference from day one to day 6.

Some fantastic skiers (father a ski instructor been skiing since they could walk) I know just wear ordinary socks.

Go for it - maybe you can try without boots or skis too if you had big enough feet :D

You can get 3 good pairs in Snow+Rock for €15 when you take into account a 3for2 and 15% off offer which they have at the moment.

Wicklow Walkers... 3 yoyos a pair and they are perfect! Not sure if they still do them... Wouldn't by anything else there though :P

My wifes grandmother knitted me a woolen pair, best ski socks ever and free, haha 65 for socks is a joke, any socks you buy for 65 quid, your just paying for the brand.

    my grandmothers dont knit
if you haven't wore a pair of 65 quid socks its kinda hard for you to judge them
they really make a big difference, you find urself gliding over the snow for hours
i wear them gardening, doing diy, and fishing as well
admittedly tho, thats prob just cause they're warm and i feel the need to get value for money from them

Looks like they would do the job fine, sure beats paying 65 quid.

Got mine from Micks garage and the birds from MotorSock.ie and MotorSock.ie were better. Easier to fit and better grip. If MotorSock.ie are sold out which they were last year can get the same ones from AutoSock.co.UK but will cost ya an extra 30 quid for same pair. but they are decent.

I now jsut use good technical socks - if anyone has trouble with thier feet when they ski a lot, I suggest they try one pair of good socks - I thibk I paid about € 28 in the ski shpos in Austria. I have found the same doing running marathons - a good pair of socks are worth the investment.
You can get away with jsut two pairs for a weeks skiing and they can be washed and dried overnight and they will last quite a while.
