What you guys think of this. Bought a car with a 12 month Mapfre "warranty". Car needs a gearbox rebuild as the 3rd gear synchro is worn and 2nd to 3rd crunches especially at high revs. Company not having a bit of it. Wear and tear, tough luck. Joke if you ask me. Suspension maybe I cansee the point but a gearbox component after 60K and they wont hear of it?

If your buying a car with a Mapfre warranty my advise is to ask for some off the car and dont bother with it. Worthless. By their reasoning almost everything could be classed as wearing to some extent.

i have a Mapfre warranty on my car, my year is nearly up with it but i dont think its the worst. I looked through it and it clearly says wear and tear isnt included but it also says gearbox issues arent included, it basically covers you for engine related issues.

My only tip would be to always bring it back to the dealer who sold it to you. i did that with a few issues and the dealer either claimed from mapfre, or else just felt guilted into repairing the issues for free.

Its not a proper warranty, thats for sure, but it does have breakdown roadside assist included which is handy and it gives protection against some issues. it costs about 150/200 a year for an average car to the dealer maybe less i reckon.

What type of car is it?

Would it be a 6 speed vw gearbox by any chance?

Gearbox issues not covered? Nowhere does it say it excludes the gearbox. Nonsence.

No its an alfa gearbox. Apparently they're a great box but have a weak 3rd synchro. Thats great isn't it.
