First time poster on this excellent, informative forum.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to this sport before Christmas on a bunny hunt for a farmer in West Cork before Christmas. It was the best day out ever:D . I got to take a, very well supervised, couple of shots and after showing that I was able to hit a tin can at 70 meters (/flex) I bagged my first bunny. Tasty little bugger he was.

So, I have got the bug and can't wait to get out again this weekend.

I am based in South Dublin and would love to start out in this sport - gently.

Could any of you experienced hunters recommend a club that I could join to start me out on my hunting career ? i.e A club I could join that would enable me to apply for my license etc. I would love to start with the .22 to build up the neccessary skills and learn in an environment where proper gunmanship is expected and enforced. Eventually, I would like to be able learn and shoot game. (stalking is just a dream at this stage!! but certainly a goal).

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful -

    Thanks for reading.

Please PM if you feel that naming excellent clubs would swamp the clubs in question.

Your location says Knocklyon, so I think BRC would be the nearest range to you. They're in Bohernabreena. They have a great facility and friendly members.

I don't have contact details for them. Perhaps a member who happens to read this should either post details here or PM you.

EDIT: I know you're probably looking for a gun club rather than a range, but BRC is a good place and their silhouette range would give you an opportunity to hone your skills and learn all of the firearm handling side of the sport in a safe and controlled environment.
