Sparing new lads - is there much point?

Been boxing for about a year, when I spar a lad in it around the same amount of time as myself I usually do reasonably well and am happy about how I get on against them.
However, when I spar a lad who's only boxing for a month or 2 I seriously struggle, I can't figure out a way by them the way I can with a lad who's boxing a while.
I've said this to my trainer and he's said that they have a broken rythm and no style which makes them unpredictable and this is why I find them more difficult.
The only way I can think of fighting them is getting involved in a brawl and landing the cleaner shots but I wouldn't do that in training.

So what I was wondering is whether sparring these guys is any good for me, am I learning anything from it or should I just stick with more experienced boxers.
Also, anyone got any advice on how to get the better of these guys?

Colly the new lads will be relying on instinct and probably just looking to fight toe to toe, if you can use your extra skills and footwork you should be able to control them off the jab-if there making you struggle then there good to spar with..

its there unorthodox ways that making life hard for you, just keep moving and wait on mistakes-let them do the work!

Exactly as cowzer says........keep sparring this guy but dont go out to hurt..........try new things.......slipping punches etc.........very hard to do with a beginner because they are so unpredictable but will help you no end.
